Manage testing and development in same sprint to avoid spillover

Hi,

I recently started working on a new project and facing a challenge,

We create user stories that basically goes through stages of Development > Functional Testing > Acceptance Testing > Completed

We target to take a story and Complete it in a sprint but sometimes we come across the stories where we can just complete development in one Sprint and have to move Testing to another sprint.
