The 1st comment I got from most of the team members when I scheduled the scrum ceremonies for the first time was; "too many meetings, when can I do some actual work!". The reason behind this was that most of them could only allocate 50% of their time to the project because they had commitments for other projects. What should you do in such a case? Since the team was working in 2 week sprints, I first reduced the amount of time for the backlog refinement meeting to 1 hour, next I changed the retrospective meeting cycle to monthly, instead of bi-weekly.
